Carved from New Zealand Argillite by Rueben Tipene
A spectacular piece of stone - a wonderful carving!
TOA is a slender toki with a subtle koru design carved into the front face. The material is a beautiful dark grey Pākohe (argillite) stone.
TOA is a striking piece of carved art. We have paired it with a bright 'juicy' red cord and binding which contrasts and offsets the grey pākohe beautifully. This will wear and age beautifully.
We have made a video which slows this piece slowly revolving. Take a moment to watch this, it reveals the beautiful slender shape of the pendant, and the subtly etched pattern carved into the front face.
TOA is lovingly packaged in a woven kete pouch.
Traditionally, the toki is worn to provide strength and courage to assist through life's challenges.
The Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’. The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth.
We include our 'Kia Ora' card explaining the meaning behind the Toki and koru design.
Delivery to you with Express Courier is included in the price.
