SHEREE WARREN

We are delighted to introduce work from a new artist to us - SHEREE WARREN.

Sheree has carved a few pieces for us - Koru and Toki - using West Coast jade, some of New Zealand's finest pounamu. They are a mix of traditional and contemporary designs and are very well priced - so well worth a look!

Here is Sheree in her own words:

I am originally from Auckland however my search for contentment in the mid 1990's led to traveling New Zealand. I fell in love with the rugged charm of the West coast of the South Island. Whilst walking the beaches I found a small piece of pounamu, and soon realised that I had found what I was looking for. A medium which I feel at one with and which challenges me well beyond any other.

Living on the West Coast has become my way of life where I have settled with my family. I now share my knowledge working as Head Tutor of the 'Hardstone and Jade Carving Programmes' at Tai Poutini Polytechnic. In my spare time I love working stone alongside my family.

In Sheree's words:

”Each piece of stone I work, deserves huge respect no matter what type it is. Created over thousands, sometimes millions of years far beyond our life span, as a carver I recognise that once I work the stone I become part of its journey and evolution through time. What I create will survive well beyond me and everyone else that joins the journey of owning one of my pieces. I feel so privileged to be able to express myself through stone".
