Visesio Siasau - Sio

Sio was born in the South Pacific Island of Tonga and is now living in New Zealand. He works in a variety of mediums and his art reflects his diverse Pacific and Maori heritage, his passion for traditional mythology and his very unique contemporary viewpoint.

Sio is well known throughout the carving community in New Zealand. His designs are deceptively simple in form but embody the power and grace of his mixed heritage.

He is a master of the traditional methods and carries on his family tradition of bone carving applying these to both ancient and modern materials.
