This little piece by Jen Hung shows her tendency to tell story through her craft. Jens inspiration for this is the act of passing through a Marae gate and entering a forest of ferns. The small cap over the koru represents the gate and the koru is a symbol of re-birth and growth. It represents the unfurling fronds of the fern, and is typically carved with delicate spirals and decorative swirls. Together the symbology is one of a journey forward - a path towards personal growth.
