RAINDANCE is a beautifully crafted piece, hewn from New Zealand pounamu, a stone with deep cultural and spiritual significance to the Māori people. The pounamu’s deep green base, reminiscent of New Zealand’s verdant landscapes, is accentuated by delicate creamy white inclusions that traverse the stone like natural brushstrokes. These unique markings enhance its visual appeal and reflect the stone’s organic origins.

RAINDANCE has a traditional adze form symbolising strength, resilience, and leadership. It has been executed with precision, showcasing smooth, flowing lines that highlight the natural beauty of the pounamu.

The pendant is elegantly bound with a dark blue/green cord, complemented by subtle golden silver accents alongside the blue cord in the lashing around the head. The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.

The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
