Carved from New Zealand Argillite by Rueben Tipene
HURINGA is a long, slender Toki that looks fabulous worn. The stone and subtle design, combined with the slate grey colour of the stone give this piece a modern look - it can be worn with anything! The stone is pākohe - a New Zealand argillite stone, and has been polished to a satin matte.
The front face is decorated with a double koru design, nearly invisible in some light but bold and strong in others.
This is a beautifully designed, carved and finished piece of art!
We have plaited a cord in colours that offset and complement the stone - a deep, sensual Passion Red, and added a brighter red floret to draw the eye to the pendant.
We have made a video which slows this piece slowly revolving. Take a moment to watch this, it reveals the beautiful design and the precise carving.
Traditionally, the toki is worn to provide strength and courage to assist through life's challenges.
HURINGA is lovingly packaged in a woven kete pouch.
The Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’. The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth.
We include our 'Kia Ora' card explaining the meaning behind the Toki and koru design.
Delivery to you with Express Courier is included in the price.
