Description

A NEW DAY is a beautiful, traditional toki pendant carved in New Zealand jade. This is a lovely carving by artist, Kyohei Noguchi - displaying a wonderful finely shaped design and a perfect finish.

The stone is an exquisite, deep green New Zealand Marsden jade and the binding an adjustable 4-plait black cord. A beautiful piece to wear and handle - this will become a treasured companion.

The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.

The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.

A NEW DAY is lovingly packaged in a woven kete pouch.
