Hand carved by Ross Crump - a large sized manaia pendant. The Pounamu is gorgeous - you can see the stone best in the photos and in the video.

This is a beautiful piece of carved art. The Auhunga jade is a lustrous green, an exceptional piece of stone.

A LITTLE ABOUT THE DESIGN ELEMENTS...

The Manaia: a mythical being believed to be the invisible light, or aura, surrounding a person. They represent spiritual power and are believed to be the guide that leads the spirits to heaven. They are worn to guide and protect. 

The matau, or hook pendant is revered throughout the South Pacific as a symbol for life, well-being and prosperity. Its significance arises from the key role that fishing has played in sustaining island families and communities. The owner of a good hook was respected and held a place of authority in the community.

We provide RANGINUI with a Tan plaited cord which is length adjustable and packaged in a woven kete pouch.

We will also include our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Manaia and Hook design.
