EKE NGARU - a beautifully carved, drop pendant for all you lovers of art to wear!
Hand carved by Andrew Doughty.
In the artists words below...
This carving is named Eke Ngaru which means to surf.
The shape is reminiscent of a surf board, or waka, indicating a connection with the ocean.
The kowhaiwhai pattern represents the great ocean of life and all its twists and turns. The ocean currents pull this way and that. However, with wisdom and skill, we can successfully navigate the great flow of life and make straight paths as depicted by the notched pattern curving along either side.
The back continues this theme with the flow of koru rising along the main trunk. Meanings associated with this are the renewal of our innermost being, a new spiritual awakening.
EKE NGARU is a marvellous piece that will certainly draw attention and comment.
EKE NGARU is lovingly packaged in a woven kete pouch and is provided with a ice white adjustable cord. Also included in your package, a note from the carver about your original work of Art to Wear.
