A large New Zealand White Jade drop pendant. This is carved from exceptionally rare New Zealand White jade, found in the Spoon River in South Westland. The boulder this piece came from was found in the late '70's and is believed to be the only significant find of this type of jade. It is a gorgeous pale lemony green as mysterious and exotic as you would expect from a stone this rare.
The shape of this piece is a form traditionally worn as an earring, and like all adornments worn on the head, were considered sacred. This piece is designed to be worn as a pendant and it is a rare beauty!
The best view is the very brief video we have made of the pendant slowly rotating. You will see the shape and the colour of the jade very clearly.
The finish is a buffed sheen. We package KAPEU in a woven kete pouch.
