WOODLAND - outstanding New Zealand Jade Art, made to Wear!
WOODLAND is hand carved from New Zealand Pounamu and is an absolute beauty. Dark and mysterious, this is a standout piece of stone, beautifully carved and finished. Aaron is a new artist for us and we are particularly impressed with the quality of his work. WOODLAND is a fine example of this - he has given the stone a mirror polish - only possible when working with high quality jade and applying an enormous attention to detail. This is best seen in the brief video we have taken of the piece revolving.
This piece is suspended from a 3-plait tan/black adjustable cord and has a traditional black lashing.
WOODLAND is a beautiful piece of traditional jewellery.
The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.
The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
WOODLAND is packaged in a woven kete pouch.
We also include one of our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Toki design.
