MOKO MAN

This ring is most definitely one of our favourites! An outstanding little work of art, beautifully designed and carved by Fumio Noguchi.

Fumio has used deer antler for this piece - a lovely character-filled material that really is perfect for this design. Fumio has a great ability to integrate the materials character into his designs. This grounds his carvings by connecting them to the natural materials he uses. If you look at this design, the face feels authentic - raised cheeks, a mouth that is just slightly lifted on one side and eyes that seem to scrutinise with a sceptical air.

The design carved into the face is a Moko - a traditional Māori tattoo, which is typically on the face.  

A spectacular piece of wearable art for all lovers of traditional art and carving!

This is a magnificent little piece, hand crafted from the tine of a Red Deer antler.
