HONOUR - outstanding New Zealand Jade Art, made to Wear!

HONOUR is a masterpiece, hand-carved from New Zealand’s prized Douglas Creek Pounamu. With a deep, dark allure and an air of mystery, this remarkable piece captures the essence of Aotearoa’s natural beauty. Aaron, a talented new artist for us, has impressed us with his craftsmanship, delivering a design that is not only visually stunning but flawlessly finished. This taonga (treasure) embodies both tradition and contemporary artistry, making it a standout piece for lovers of handcrafted jade jewellery.

Aaron has given this piece a bright satin polish - achieved when working with high quality jade and applying an enormous attention to detail. This is best seen in the brief video we have taken of the piece revolving.

This piece is suspended from a 3-plait tan/black adjustable cord and has a traditional tan lashing.

HONOUR incorporates the koru in a wonderful, subtly engraved form. The koru is the symbol of new beginnings, traditionally it is a carved representation of a young, newly formed fern frond - very fragile but with enormous potential.

The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.

The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
