WYE CREEK - we've given this piece the name of a beautiful area on the West face of the Remarkables mountain range overlooking the shores of Lake Wakatipu in New Zealand. The stone picks up the gorgeous colours of this country and the waters that it overlooks.

WYE CREEK is hand carved from what can only be described as an outstanding piece of New Zealand Inanga Pounamu. The colours in this jade are remarkable - pale green with tinges of blue and scars of chocolate brown. This piece is unique in its colours, and in the binding and finish.

Inanga is a very special stone unique to New Zealand. Its hues range from pale green to silvery-gray and it exudes a serene and ethereal beauty. If you've ever been in a river valley early in the morning you will see its resemblance to the tranquil waters of a misty river. Its smooth, polished surface captures the essence of Aotearoa's natural landscapes - pure and calm.

The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.

The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
