A koru like no other! Beautifully designed and crafted, this is an exceptional contemporary example of this classic design. A piece of carved art that will provide a striking picture on your wall ...and make a great talking point!
This design is quintessential Kerry Thompson - it is a wonderful flowing form carved with accents and finished with a mixed polish technique that is a delight to see! Kerry's delineation between matte and high polish contributes to an alluring light play and it certainly highlights the wonderful carving.
A little about this design...
The Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’. The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth.
