The Huia Bird is an extinct songbird once found in New Zealand's bush. Renowned for its beauty and wonderful song, Māori regarded the Huia as tapu - sacred - and only people of high status were allowed to wear its feathers or skin. Sadly, these birds no longer grace our forests, but from time to time a carver remembers them, and pays tribute through their art.
Sami has created a remarkable piece of carved art in HUIA'S LANGUAGE.This carving is the slender, curved form of a female bird. It is perfectly carved and closely replicates the real thing.
Sami has added a sterling silver bale so you can wear it with your own chain if you choose.
We will ship this piece with an adjustable fine tan cord.
