A large and striking double koru breastplate pendant, carved in New Zealand pounamu - a wonderful, colourful Kokopu jade.

This jade is a relatively rare stone named 'kokopu' after a little native New Zealand trout which has a similar colour and markings.

This piece is a large, beautifully carved and striking work of art. Its form has depth, width, weight and gravitas! FRIENDSHIP is a very significant piece, and one that will be a piece to pass down the generations.

Of particular note is Kerry's two tone finish - polished on the back and outer edges of the front, with the inset central Koru a soft matte. This distinguishes and promotes the key elements of the design, particularly when the light strikes the pendant.

FRIENDSHIP is carved as a symbol of, and reflection on, the inevitable ups and downs one confronts on the journey through life and the value of FRIENDSHIP and connection in mastering these challenges.

FRIENDSHIP is provided with an adjustable length black cord and will be delivered to you packaged in a woven kete pouch.

A carefully thought through pendant, with considerable history sitting behind the design. We have one only.

The Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’.  The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth.

The shape is streamlined, gloriously curved and quite unique. Take a look at the video and you will appreciate the artistry of this beautiful piece.
