RAIN DANCE

This is a significant carving - a visually stunning pendant carved from a beautiful piece of New Zealand Jade. 

RAIN DANCE is a wonderful exemplar of the hook - a matau with three koru carved into the body. This is a wonderfully designed and executed carving with fine detail that does not distract from the beauty of the stone.

This is a large piece that can be displayed or worn - if you would like a cord supplied with this please let us know and we will plait and fit it for you. It is certainly a wearable piece of carved art.

The Hei-Matau: is a powerful symbol representing prosperity, abundance and fertility. It is also believed to provide good luck and safety when travelling over water.

The Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’.  The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth.
