This beautiful piece is carved from natural stained bone with eyes inlaid in Pāua Shell and Pounamu inlay on the wing of the Manaia. There are three central figures capture in this carving - a manaia, a tiki and, at the bottom, a koropepe.

Andrew has paired this lovely carving with a beige adjustable cord. He wanted to create a piece of jewellery that will draw the eye and request attention. This piece is perfect for you if you like handcrafted, traditional art to wear, and if you appreciate the finest craftsmanship.

In the artists words below...

This piece is named Ora Tapu which means Sacred Life.

The basis of this taonga is three-fold consisting of a Manaia, Hei Tiki and Te Koropepe. This depicts the various stages of life. At another level, it represents a spiritual unfolding.

This Manaia has an inlay of Pāua for the eyes. This represents being able to see life's colourful beauty and to be able to maintain a positive view.

The koru on the front and back symbolise the currents and tides of the ocean.

The artist has decorated these pieces with particular carved detail - these have meaning for the design beyond that associated with this style Manaia.

ORA TAPU symbolises the state of becoming our spiritual potential.

The Manaia: a mythical being believed to be the invisible light, or aura, surrounding a person. They represent spiritual power and are believed to be the guide that leads the spirits to heaven. They are worn to guide and protect.

Included in your package is a note of the carving from the artist.

Delivery to you with Express Courier is included in the price.
