The Matau or Hook is traditionally regarded as the symbol of prosperity. A good fishhook provided the means to provide for the family and tribe and became a symbol of abundance and wealth.

It is a talisman for good luck and is believed to protect and provide good fortune to the wearer.

The Tiki is also regarded as a symbol of prosperity by some, promoting fertility and abundance.
